In this interdisciplinary activity, students take on the role of store owners and conduct a mini-census to identify the needs of their target market. They then apply various estimation strategies to evaluate how building their store could impact a local population of threatened mice. This hands-on lesson combines data collection, market analysis, and environmental impact assessment.
