Resource Overview

Population Lesson Plans for NCERT Science and Geography is a set of lesson plans for teachers in India. The included lessons challenge students to think critically about their place on the planet, impacts that people have on the natural environment, and ways that a growing population affects communities. The interdisciplinary nature of these topics makes the lessons appropriate for use in science and geography secondary courses and lessons can easily be adapted up or down to meet the needs of diverse learners.

The lesson plans are divided into two thematic groups and when completed together, give students a thorough understanding of how population growth and individual actions impact the natural world and the people living on it. Each thematic group or individual lesson plan can also be used on its own to complement classroom instruction.

Every lesson plan outlines measurable learning objectives, skills used, and necessary materials, including worksheets and slideshows as needed. The suggested follow-up activities can be used for students who would benefit from further exploration of each lesson’s topics. In addition, each lesson is correlated to the NCERT science or geography teaching standards.
