Resource Overview

Written and scaffolded for ELL, an apple is sliced into pieces to model the amount of agricultural land being used on Earth while students use a word bank to complete a written narration.

Students will be able to:
  • State what percentage of the Earth is made up of water, habitable land, inhospitable land, developed land, and agricultural land.
  • Discuss threats to agricultural land and soil health.
  • Use vocabulary words for common geographical features and agriculture in small group conversations and in a class discussion.
  • Listen for words from a word bank to write in the blank spaces of a narrative as it’s read aloud.
  • Orally describe geographical features found around the world.
