Students use small manipulatives and a sampling method to estimate the population of flowers in a field.

  • Estimate the size of a species’ population through two methods – visual estimation and sampling.
  • Weigh the pros and cons of different methods of estimating populations.
  • Explain why it’s important to know the size of a population.
