The World’s Women: Lessons on How Education and Fertility Impact Demographic Change

Help your students unpack the critical role that women and girls play in shaping population growth dynamics. During this interactive virtual session, facilitators will share teaching strategies that encourage data literacy, making real-world connections, and critical thinking about factors that impact our demographically divided world.

During the session, you’ll participate in classroom activities, and get the lesson plans to take home. First we’ll explore historic fertility data and analyze how quality of life indicators, like access to education, can impact demographic trends. Then, we will discuss and analyze poems related to girls’ education, diving into the voice, meaning, and mood of the verses.

The virtual workshop is perfect for grades 6-12 social studies and ELA teachers, but all educators are welcome to attend!
